Exploring Yellowstone National Park: How Long Does it Take to See it All?
Yellowstone National Park, located primarily in the U.S. state of Wyoming, is a pristine wilderness that attracts millions of visitors each year. Spread across three states – Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho – this natural wonderland encompasses vast wilderness areas, geothermal wonders, breathtaking landscapes, and a rich diversity of wildlife. With so much to see and experience, many visitors wonder, how long would it take to see everything in Yellowstone National Park?
The short answer is: It would take quite a bit of time to see absolutely everything this expansive park has to offer. Covering an area of over 2.2 million acres, Yellowstone National Park is larger than the states of Rhode Island and Delaware combined, and home to numerous iconic attractions such as the Old Faithful geyser, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and the bewildering Mammoth Hot Springs.
To give you an idea of just how big Yellowstone is, imagine driving around the park's Grand Loop Road, which is approximately 142 miles long. If you were to drive non-stop without exploring any of the attractions, it would still take you around four to five hours to complete the loop.
