Dynamic Duo Jen and Daiquiri For the Love of Dogs

Jen and Daiquiri: A Dynamic Duo’s Journey in Canine Agility
At the 2025 Calgary Expo, amidst the cosplay and parades, one pair stole the spotlight in a different arena: Jen Becker and her border collie, Daiquiri. The photo of Jen, in her red-and-white athletic gear, high-fiving Daiquiri mid-air during an agility demonstration captures their infectious energy and unbreakable bond. This dynamic duo has been turning heads in the canine agility world for years, with Daiquiri’s talents and Jen’s dedication making them a beloved team in Calgary and beyond.
Jen Becker, a Calgary native, has been training dogs for over a decade, but her journey with Daiquiri began in 2018 when she welcomed the spirited border collie into her life. Known for their intelligence and athleticism, border collies are a natural fit for agility sports, and Daiquiri proved exceptional from the start. Jen, a certified agility instructor with a background in animal behavior, recognized Daiquiri’s potential early on. By 2020, the pair was competing in regional events, quickly earning a reputation for their precision and speed.
Daiquiri’s talents are nothing short of extraordinary. She’s mastered complex agility courses, weaving through poles, soaring over jumps, and navigating tunnels with the grace of a seasoned athlete. At the 2025 Calgary Expo’s pet-friendly activities, Daiquiri showcased her skills in a demonstration that left the crowd cheering. Her ability to leap into a perfect high-five with Jen, as seen in the photo, is a testament to her training and trust in her handler. Daiquiri has also earned multiple titles in national competitions, including a first-place finish at the 2023 Canadian Agility Championships, where her lightning-fast 28-second run set a record.
What sets Jen and Daiquiri apart is their partnership. Jen’s training philosophy emphasizes positive reinforcement, ensuring Daiquiri associates every jump and sprint with joy. “She’s not just well-trained—she loves this,” Jen shared during the Expo. Their story inspires pet owners to explore the world of canine sports, proving that with dedication and love, any dog can shine. Jen and Daiquiri remind us that talent, teamwork, and a wagging tail can create magic—whether on an agility course or at a bustling event like the Calgary Expo.
